Detectives are investigating after a Portland man was found dead at a Hazel Dell motel.

Deputies were called to Kays Motel, 6700 N.E. Highway 99, at 8:55 p.m. Wednesday for what were reported as suspicious circumstances, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office said.

Arriving deputies found the body of a 41-year-old man from Portland, the sheriff’s office said.

The agency called the death suspicious but said the cause of death is still being determined pending an autopsy by the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The sheriff’s office’s major crimes unit and tactical detective unit are investigating.
