A Federal Way man is in jail after the Clark County Sheriff’s Office said he tried to flee a deputy during a traffic stop but got stuck in a ditch instead.

Vladislav Sloboda, 20, was driving a truck hauling a trailer north on JA Moore Road between La Center and Battle Ground just before 9 a.m. Tuesday when he came upon a road-closed sign near Northeast 284th Street, sheriff’s Sgt. Fred Neiman said.

A deputy assigned to work with Clark County Public Works, which had crews in the area, stopped the driver and told him he wasn’t allowed through the area, Neiman said.

The driver was uncooperative and started driving away, trying to turn his vehicle around, Neiman said.

“He didn’t get very far,” Neiman said. “He backs up, trying to elude the deputy, and ends up in the ditch.”

Sloboda was arrested on suspicion of failing to obey a law enforcement officer during a traffic stop, but Neiman said that more charges may be pending.
