Grants of $7.7 million aid Clark County streets, sidewalks

Five cities in Clark County received a total of $7.7 million out of the $120 million in grant funding the state Transportation Improvement Board awarded last month to 149 local agency street and sidewalk projects.

TIB funding comes from the statewide gas tax and driver’s license revenue dedicated by the Legislature for local agency grants. The Legislature created the TIB to manage state investment in quality local transportation projects, which usually require a local financial contribution.

The latest grants include $117 million for resurfacing and construction of city streets and county roads, plus $3 million for LED street light conversion.

Here are the 2015 local grant awards:

• Vancouver: $4 million for Northeast 18th Street from Northeast Four Seasons Lane to Northeast 136th Avenue

• Battle Ground: $367,000 for the 2017 arterial preservation project

• La Center: $681,000 for the Pacific Highway Fourth Street roundabout

• Ridgefield: $2.5 million for the Pioneer Street 35th Avenue roundabout and the 2017 arterial preservation project

• Washougal: $165,000 for SE Evergreen Way from 34th Street to 36th Street
