Several major roads in the Gifford Pinchot National are closed due to landslides or fallen trees, the Forest Service said today.

Among the roads are:

• Road No. 25 (Lewis River-Randle) between road No. 93 (Spencer Creek) and six miles north of road No. 99 (Windy Ridge).

• Road No. 23 (Trout Lake-Randle) between milepost 12 and road No. 8810.

• Road No. 54 (Canyon Creek) seven miles east of Amboy.

Forest crews are continuing to gather new information and evaluate other roads. Heavy rain and wind have made many forest roads unsafe.

Motorists can call Gifford Pinchot offices in Chelatchie (360-449-7800), Trout Lake (509) 395-3400 and Randle (360) 497-1100 for local information.
