A house in the hills north of Woodland was destroyed by fire Tuesday night.

Emergency crews from Cowlitz and Clark counties were dispatched to the home in the 100 block of Fairwood Road just after 9 p.m. to a reported gas-line leak and structure fire. It turned out that there was no gas leak, but that propane tanks inside the structure exploded in the blaze, said Alan Headley, manager of a weather-related emergency operations center that also monitored the fire.

Nobody was home at the time of the fire, so nobody was injured, Headley said.

“It sounds like the structure was probably a total loss,” he added.
