PeaceHealth has named Nancy Steiger its president of hospital services for the Columbia Network, which includes hospitals in Vancouver and Longview.

Steiger, a registered nurse, has been serving in an interim leadership role for the network since March. In addition to leading hospital services for the regional network, she will also oversee community benefit and advocacy activities for the PeaceHealth network.

“In my time here, I’ve fallen in love with our communities and hospitals,” Steiger said in a news release. “I’m eager to continue to build on the strength of our services and look for innovative new ways to ensure the health and well-being of the people we serve. I’m honored to answer the call of PeaceHealth’s mission in our communities, which promises to relieve pain and suffering and to treat each person in a loving and caring way.”

Steiger served as chief executive officer for PeaceHealth’s Northwest Network based in Bellingham for eight years before overseeing ambulatory care for the PeaceHealth system. Earlier this year, she moved into the hospital services role for the Columbia Network, which includes PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center and PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center in Longview.

Steiger began her career as an oncology nurse before moving into executive positions with San Mateo Medical Center and Santa Rose Memorial Hospital/St. Joseph Health system, both in Northern California.

Vancouver-based PeaceHealth has 16,000 employees, which includes a group practice with about 800 providers, and 10 medical centers in three states.
