Balanced scoring and good passing carried the Chieftains to the win over the visiting Plainsmen.
Gabriellle Collins led the way with 11 points for River (2-2), Teaghan Cowles added 10 and three players scored eight apiece. Kate Kraft and Ellie Furth each had four assists.
“We had some really good passing,” River coach Carl Click said, noting that the Chieftains beat the Plainsmen press to pull away after Evergreen was within six points midway through the third quarter.
Collins, Kraft, Katie Kolbe and Yaiydenn Lopez Career each had a career high in points. Emma Fisk grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds for Columbia River.
