The visiting Falcons scored 14 points in overtime to earn the non-league win. Prairie grabbed a quick lead in overtime, then pulled away by converting free throws.
Both teams made big plays in the closing seconds of regulation. With 14 seconds left, Prairie’s Greg Bernash was fouled on a drive following a Camas turnover. He hit one free throw to put the Falcons up 50-49. The Papermakers’ Jake Hansel then dribbled end-to-end and was fouled on a layup attempt that could have won the game. He also made one free throw, sending the game into overtime.
Prairie started the night hot, scoring 23 points in a first quarter that featured five of the Falcons’ seven 3-pointers in the game. Palmer Goecke made three 3-pointers in the first quarter and Michael Stockbridge made two 3s in the quarter.
After the fast start, Prairie (1-1) produced only 27 points over the final three quarters before finishing with the 14-point overtime.
