Boys basketball: Columbia River 62, Evergreen 60

Spencer Long got the ball in the post and made the winning basket with one second to play to lift the Chieftains to a non-league win.

“River hit some big shots when they needed,” Evergreen Brian Witherspoon said. “They found Long down on the block. I had a feeling they might post him up, and he made a tough shot.”

Long led the Chieftains with 24 points. Andrew Vickers had 15 points and Jacob Hjort added 13.

Greg Washington had a game-high 25 points for Evergreen (1-2), and Tyrus Hosley added 16.
