Firefighters were called to two fires Tuesday night, one in a two-story home west of Battle Ground and another that burned a back deck in east Vancouver.

The Vancouver Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 4800 block of Northeast 141st Ave. in east Vancouver at 7:15 p.m.

Emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian indicated firefighters arrived to find working fire behind the home, and the fire was under control shortly after.

Another fire call came in around 8:30 p.m. at a two-story home in the 8600 block of Northeast 239th St. near Battle Ground.

Clark County Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief Tim Dawdy said Tuesday night that a room on the second floor of the building was burning, and firefighters had the blaze under control.
