The Thunder couldn’t overcome a balanced attack by Kelso, which had four players score in double figures.
Mountain View trailed 33-16 at halftime on the road, but played better in the second half. Coach Aaron Shepherd praised freshmen Darien Chase, Jack Mertens and Rodolfo Montiel.
“All three played really solid for us,” Shepherd said. “They basically played all of the second half, during which we played really well.”
Chase led all scorers with 14 points. Mertens had eight points and Montiel added six.
The nonleague loss dropped Mountain View to 2-2. Kelso is 2-0.
