Girls basketball: La Center 74, Castle Rock 26

The Wildcats outscored visiting Castle Rock 27-4 in the second quarter and cruised to victory in the Trico League opener for both teams.

Taylor Mills had 18 points, 10 rebounds and five steals for La Center. Shelby Vermeulen had 13 points including nine in the second quarter.

Taylor Stephens added 10 points, Andrea Griffee had five points, five steals and five assists, and Bethany Whitten had four points, five assists and five steals.
