Washougal — Cape Horn-Skye Elementary School fourth- and fifth-graders learned about giving thanks throughout November with a Gratitude Challenge, in which students wrote holiday letters to troops, recognized important role models in their lives and kept a thankful journal.

Each student was also given a gratitude token to give to someone toward whom they felt grateful. The students then met up in pairs to discuss to whom they gave their token and why.

To celebrate the month of gratitude, the students had a feast on Nov. 24, where they made place cards, place mats and table decorations, and also learned about proper dining etiquette.
