Local veterans who survived the attack on Pearl Harbor 74 years ago will be honored Monday morning.

The commemoration will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the American Legion Hall, Post 14, 4607 N.E. St. Johns Road.

The ceremony will remember about 2,390 Americans who were killed when Japanese warplanes and submarines attacked Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on Dec. 7, 1941, launching the United States into World War II.

The Pacific Northwest Sons and Daughters of Pearl Harbor Survivors are organizers of the program.

Participants will include World War II veterans who are members of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association.

The memorial service is open to the public.
