Downtown Vancouver’s flagship art gallery, the North Bank Artists Community Project, has received a $10,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Southwest Washington and its Jane Ondorff Malmquist Charitable Fund.

The grant will cover operational expenses, executive director Marureen Andrade Montague said. Operational expenses include staff pay, bills and other routine costs.

The North Bank board is pursuing both short- and long-term plans for the gallery and studio space, Montague added, which expects to lose the lease to its 1005 Main St. location in May. She said the board is pursuing other affordable downtown space in the short term while planning for a capital campaign for a permanent home for North Bank in the long term.

North Bank is a nonprofit organization that brings education, professional development and free arts events to Clark County. It offers a new installation monthly. This month’s exhibit is “Toys and Small Works,” a holiday-themed show; in January, it will be the annual student shows featuring student works from Columbia River High School and the Vancouver School of Arts and Academics.
