Tyrus Hosley scored 18 points and Greg Washington added 16 as the Plainsmen dropped their home opener.
“Things went well for two quarters,” Evergreen coach Brian Witherspoon said. “We led most of the first quarter. In the second quarter, they opened it up a little bit, but we still felt good with how we were competing. But in the third quarter, we didn’t play as well.”
After trailing 17-16 in the first quarter, Federal Way took a 38-27 lead into halftime. The Eagles opened it up to 57-35 after three quarter.
“I was pleased with our effort,” Witherspoon said. “They’re a good team, and we’re a bit undersized. But we scrapped and played hard.”
