Battle Ground police warn of package theft

The Battle Ground Police Department has received at least three reports of package theft in recent days, and the department reminded residents to take steps to watch out for their deliveries.

In two cases within a week, witnesses saw a woman driving a red Mini Cooper pull up to homes, knock on the door, then take packages that had been delivered to the homes, according to police. The department also received a third report of package theft, but it didn’t include a description of a suspect or vehicle.

All three thefts were reported in the northwestern corner of the city, the police said, adding residents elsewhere should stay on the lookout.

Any immediate criminal activity should be reported to 911.

Those who think they might be a victim or have non-urgent information can contact police by calling 311.

The police encouraged residents to use alternate package delivery methods to avoid being a victim:

• If you aren’t home during the day, send the package to a neighbor or relative who is home.

• Request a signature confirmation on each delivery so a package will not be left at its destination unless someone is present to sign for it.

• Send packages to your work address instead of your home.
