Wednesday was cool, as that pesky east wind continued to bring cold air down the Gorge, which fanned out over Clark County.
The wind and moderate rain Tuesday evening left those east county residents who live near the Columbia River with ice-coated trees and power lines. Some roads were slippery. Most of the rest of us just endured cold rain. Thirty-three degrees and rain? It might as well have been snowing, yet some areas of the county had sleet Tuesday.
We managed to make it into the low 40s Wednesday, but after the sun set, the temperature dropped back into the 30s. The next weather system was already sending us light rain just after sunset. The rest of Western Washington hit 50 degrees, except for us lucky ones near the Columbia. Even the Kelso-Longview area had a high of 50 degrees.
Rainfall Tuesday was between .66 inch to 1.5 inches in the Cascade foothills. December precipitation got off to a good start, and November’s cooling trend continues.
