A 22-point second quarter keyed the Trappers’ season-opening win over the visiting Eagles.
Nine players scored for Fort Vancouver, led by 12 points from Ronald Owens and 10 from freshman James Husband Jr.
Fort out scored Hudson’s Bay 22-11 in the second quarter to open up a 14-point halftime lead.
“We just settled down and started hitting open shots,” Trappers coach James Ensley said.
Hudson’s Bay cut the deficit to three points in the third quarter before another Fort Vancouver run built the lead to as many as 19 points.
Ensley called Hudson’s Bay a much-improved team. Other than some first-game jitters and free-throw line struggles, Ensley was pleased with his team’s performance.
