Clark athletic report, Sept. 1-7

What’s coming up this week in Clark College athletics:

MEN’S SOCCER

Notable: Brett Jacobs takes over as head coach of the Penguins, who lost in the NWAC quarterfinals last year. At the NWAC Friendlies in Eugene on Saturday and Sunday, Clark tied Highline 0-0 and lost to North Idaho 3-1.

Record: 1-1-2 preseason.

Regular-season home opener: vs. Treasure Valley, 1 p.m. Wednesday at Kim Christiansen Field.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Notable: The Penguins started went 2-0 at the NWAC Friendlies in Eugene on Saturday and Sunday, defeating Shoreline 2-1 and North Idaho 2-0.

Record: 3-1 preseason; 2-0 NWAC.

Regular-season home opener: vs. Treasure Valley, 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kim Christiansen Field.

VOLLEYBALL

Preseason road: The Penguins don’t open at home until Sept. 8, playing their first seven matches on the road.

This week: Clark is at Lewis & Clark College in Portland at 7 p.m. Tuesday; at Lower Columbia, 6:30 p.m. Wednesday; at Walla Walla on Thursday; at Spokane Tournament on Friday-Saturday.

CROSS COUNTRY

First meet: The Penguins are scheduled to take part in the Treasure Valley meet in Weiser, Idaho, on Sept. 12 for their first competition.
