There will be many characters running around Esther Short Park next weekend as the Kumoricon Anime Convention returns to Vancouver. More than 6,000 fans of anime, comic and Japanese culture will gather Sept. 4-7 at the Hilton Vancouver and Red Lion Hotel at the Quay. Guests include musician Kieran Strange, Portland band The Slants, and voice actors Patrick Seitz, David Vincent, Erica Mendez and Christine Marie Cabanos. Camas First Friday brings a French tradition of “Plein Air in the Heart of Camas.” Artists will paint the landscape of downtown Camas in “open air” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the finished artworks displayed during First Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitors can vote for the People’s Choice Award. The fifth annual North County Wine Run features a 5K and half-marathon races that take participants through the rolling hills and rural landscape of north Clark County starting at 9 a.m. Sept. 12. The Vancouver International Food Festival continues the traditions of St. Joseph Catholic School’s Vancouver Sausage Fest with a global celebration of different cultures.
