Save the Date: Vintage items, family fest, music get the fun started

Something old and something new awaits treasure collectors at the Camas Vintage and Art Faire. The seventh annual event runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, featuring more than 60 vintage, antique and upcycled vendors, along with local artists for an eclectic mix of items. There will be many characters running around Esther Short Park next weekend as the Kumoricon Anime Convention returns to Vancouver. More than 6,000 fans of anime, comic and Japanese culture will gather Sept. 4-7 at the Hilton Vancouver and Red Lion Hotel at the Quay. Guests include musician Kieran Strange, Portland band The Slants, and voice actors Patrick Seitz, David Vincent, Erica Mendez and Christine Marie Cabanos. Registration is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 4-6 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 7. Tickets are $60 for the weekend, $30 for Friday and Monday, $40 for Saturday and Sunday. Camas First Friday brings a French tradition of “Plein Air in the Heart of Camas.” Artists will paint the landscape of downtown Camas in “open air” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the finished artworks displayed during First Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitors can vote for the People’s Choice Award. Ridgefield will travel to Wild Wild West with activities from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 5. Enjoy themed games, the farmers market in Overlook Park, crafts at the Ridgefield Community Library, and a kids and pet parade at 11:30 a.m. in Davis Park. The Old Liberty Theater will screen Roy Roger’s classic “King of the Cowboys (1943)” at 2 p.m. for $2. The fifth annual North County Wine Run features a 5K and half-marathon races that take participants through the rolling hills and rural landscape of north Clark County starting at 9 a.m. Sept. 12. After the races, there will be wine from five local wineries, music, vendor booths and entertainment for all participants at United Natural Foods, 7909 S. Union Ridge Parkway, Ridgefield. The Vancouver International Food Festival continues the traditions of St. Joseph Catholic School’s Vancouver Sausage Fest with a global celebration of different cultures. Visitors can sample dishes from Italy, Greece, Hawaii, Germany, Mexico and the United States, along tastings in the beer garden. The annual carnival returns with rides for all ages, while the main stage showcases local musicians, performers and cultural dances.
