It appears our initial taste of autumn is still on track for Friday as a cold low pressure system begins its eastward migration. Rain will begin along the coast early and then be inland during the day Friday. The weekend looks wet, with periods of rain or showers.
Computer forecast models show an inch of rain locally, maybe more, from Friday through Monday. The chance of showers remains the beginning of next week, too, but it may end up mostly dry.
With the first substantial rainfall in months, the roadways will be extremely slick, so use caution and keep a safe distance while driving. There will be plenty of foam on the roads. This rainfall will be a blessing, helping address the fire danger on the west side of the Cascades. I’m not sure just how much, if any, will make it over to the east side. At least humidity will be higher and temperatures cooler. There will be gusty winds, however, as the trough of low pressure moves inland.
It will also be breezy along the coast; I expect a portion of the rain there to be in a horizontal position.
