Give More 24!, Southwest Washington’s annual day of online giving, returns for its second year on Sept. 24. The Vancouver-based Community Foundation for Southwest Washington is raising the bar this year by aiming to collect $750,000 during the 24-hour giving spree. Last year, 1,262 unique donors gave 1,842 gifts totaling $426,000.
Causes such as animals, arts and culture, community improvement, education, environment, health, housing, hunger, social services and youth development are represented among the 111 participating organizations. The Community Foundation anticipates that more people will get involved because there are more nonprofits involved and more general awareness of the event, said spokesman Maury Harris.
“If we saw the number of donors double that would be just as exciting as any financial goal,” Harris said.
Residents across Clark, Cowlitz and Skamania counties are encouraged to give at least the minimum donation amount, $10.
