Bloodworks Northwest is hosting a community picnic and blood drive to drum up support for the organization and increase local blood donations.
Bloodworks, formerly Puget Sound Blood Center, typically supplies local hospitals with more than 750 units of blood for Clark County patients each month. But the organization is currently only able to collect about half that amount.
The Clark County Community Picnic & Blood Drive is 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Bloodworks Northwest Vancouver donor center, 9320 N.E. Vancouver Mall Drive, Suite 100.
The event will include a picnic catered by Jazzy John’s BBQ, family activities and live music. Vancouver Mayor Tim Leavitt and Bloodworks regional director Andrea Chiller will give a short presentation at 11:30 a.m.
Blood donation appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome. To make an appointment, call 800-398-7888, email schedule@bloodworksnw.org or visit www.bloodworksnw.org/schedule.
