WaferTech, the Camas-based semi-conductor manufacturer, said Friday that it has promoted Dr. Tsung Kuo to company president and fab director effective immediately. He replaces K.C. Hsu, who is “departing to pursue other opportunities,” the company — a subsidiary of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company — said in a news release.
Hsu “has been part of the TSMC family since our early pioneering years, and he has our sincerest thanks for 25 years of dedicated service, including 15 years with WaferTech,” M.C. Tzeng, TSMC’s vice president of affiliate fabs, said in the news release.
Kuo received his master’s and doctorate degrees in electrical engineering from UCLA and worked at National Semiconductor Corporation and Rockwell Semiconductor Systems before he joined WaferTech in 1998. Before his appointment to president and fab director, Kuo served as WaferTech’s deputy fab director.
Founded in 1996, WaferTech occupies 260 acres in Camas.
