• School of Piano Technology for the Blind is looking for drivers and substitute drivers, office assistants and student mentors.

• Volunteer Chore Services needs drivers, 21 or older, to provide transportation to seniors and adults with disabilities to essential appointments and errands

• Vancouver Housing Authority seeks volunteers who are proficient in Russian, Spanish or Vietnamese to help publish newsletters for clients. It is also looking for volunteers to mentor people seeking a GED, and to spend an hour or more weekly tutoring youth in math and English.

• Vancouver Fire Department Fire Corps seeks volunteers, working in pairs, to educate residents on ways to reduce preventable residential fires, through the Project Home Safe Canvass campaign, Aug. 29 and Sept. 12.

The Washington State Department of Transportation and the Cascade Bicycle Club are seeking volunteers and organizations to count bicyclists and walkers on paths, bike lanes and sidewalks Sept. 29 to Oct. 1. Volunteers are needed across the state to count the number of people who walk or bike to destinations. The information is used to measure the results of bike and sidewalk investments and plan for future projects.

The city of Vancouver seeks to fill one three-year term on the PDX Citizen Noise Advisory Committee. Applicants must reside within Vancouver’s city limits. The 15-member committee has two positions appointed by the Vancouver City Council.

The committee generally meets from 6 to 8 p.m. the second Thursday of every second month at the Port Administration Building in Portland. Clark County is seeking a neighborhood representative from the Camas-Washougal area to serve on the Portland International Airport Community Advisory Committee, for a two-year term beginning in October. A key focus of the committee is to work toward assuring that PDX and the Airport Plan District is the most sustainable in the world, recognizing the long-term, critical interconnection among economic development, environmental stewardship and social responsibility.

The city of Vancouver seeks to fill a mid-term vacancy on the Parking Advisory Committee, a seven-member volunteer body that advises Vancouver City Council and city staff on parking policy and program implementation.
