Camas-Washougal’s first trip to a Babe Ruth Baseball World Series ended with a Wednesday loss to a team from Maine.
A four-run second inning was the difference as New England champion Tri-Valley beat Camas-Washougal 7-3 at the Babe Ruth World Series for 13-year-olds at Jamestown, N.Y. At 1-3 in pool play, Camas-Washougal cannot advance to the elimination phase of the tournament.
Gideon Malychewski capped a strong tournament for Camas-Washougal. The leadoff hitter was 2 for 3 with a triple and scored two runs on Wednesday.
Tyler Forner was 2 for 3 with two RBI and a run scored. Kolby Broadbent had a double and RBI, and Logan Kearsey had a base hit for Camas-Washougal.
