The family of a Battle Ground girl who was seriously injured in September in a crash caused by an alleged drunken driver is now suing that motorist.

The lawsuit filed Thursday against Shane Turner, 32, of Battle Ground, lists the plaintiffs as Anna Konovalchik and her children, Agatha and Jacob.

Turner is accused of being intoxicated when the westbound pickup he was driving struck a southbound minivan driven by Konovalchik about 6:45 p.m. Sept. 10 at the intersection of Northeast 219th Street and 182nd Avenue near Battle Ground, according to court records.

Konovalchik’s daughter, Agatha, then 9, was transported via LifeFlight to a Portland hospital, where she remained for more than a month. Konovalchik, who was 44 at the time, and her son Jacob, then 13, were also injured and taken to an area hospital, court documents state.

Turner faces two counts of vehicular assault. His trial is scheduled to begin Nov. 16.

The lawsuit seeks damages suffered as a result of Turner’s “negligence” and other costs and damages.
