GLENWOOD — Firefighters continue to make progress building and reinforcing fire line on the Cougar Creek Fire on the south flank of Mount Adams. About 20 percent of the blaze is under containment.

The focus for today is building line on the southeast side to stop the front that threatened Glenwood last week. Resources also are being directed to the northeast end to keep the fire from Big Muddy Creek and preserving the Bacon Creek irrigation flume.

The fire is at 22,600 acres. There are 440 personnel including six helicopters tasked to fighting the blaze.
