An Arizona woman was taken to a local hospital Sunday morning after the car she was driving collided with a vehicle that was making an improper U-turn on state Highway 14 in Washougal, according to police.

At about 11 a.m., 19-year-old Serghei Paripa of Battle Ground was driving his silver 2015 Volkswagen Golf east near 32nd Street when he slowed the car down and pulled over to the shoulder, according to a Washington State Patrol press memo. Paripa then made a U-turn in front of a black 2008 Lexus RX 350 driven by Susanne Gaudette, 57, of Tucson, Ariz., who also had been heading east.

The cars collided, and Gaudette sustained injuries. She was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, where she was treated and released, according to hospital staff.

Paripa, who was not hurt in the crash, faces a second-degree negligent driving charge, according to WSP. Troopers determined that his improper U-turn caused the crash.
