GLENWOOD, Wash. — The Cougar Creek Fire is expected to move primarily north today along the east side of Mount Adams through a large patch of insect-killed lodgepole pine.

Fire officials reported this morning that 5 percent of the perimeter is contained. Fire line construction continues along the west, south and east flanks.

Scattered residences north of Glenwood have been told to be prepared to evacuate.

The fire is at 22,300 acres and has a crew of 459 personnel assigned to stop it.
