Anglers caught more than 6,000 adult summer chinook — a record high — in the Columbia River downstream of Bonneville Dam in 2015.

The old mark was 5,576 summer chinook in 2011. Record-keeping goes back to 1969, although summer chinook angling was closed annually from 1974 through 2001.

The summer race is chinook in the lower Columbia between June 16 and July 31.

This year also set a record for adult summer chinook counted at Bonneville Dam. A total of 116,657 were tallied. The old mark was 102,724 in 1957.
