Two Babe Ruth Baseball teams from Clark County begin World Series play this weekend.
A team representing Hazel Dell Metro of Vancouver is the Pacific Northwest entry at the 14-year-olds Babe Ruth World Series in Pine Bluff, Ark. Camas-Washougal Babe Ruth is the Pacific Northwest champion at the 13-year-olds Babe Ruth World Series in Jamestown, N.Y.
Both tournaments start with round-robin pool play. The top three teams from each pool advance to the elimination rounds.
Hazel Dell Metro will play the first game at the 14s World Series, taking on Bonnville, Mo., at 8 a.m. PDT on Saturday.
The other pool-play games for Hazel Dell Metro are at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, 2 p.m. Monday, 2 p.m. Tuesday and 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. Quarterfinal games are Thursday, semifinals are Friday and the championship game is on Aug. 22.
