Fruit Valley — About 250 bicyclists on Aug. 3 camped at Vancouver Lake Park as part of the 17th annual Ride Around Washington, a weeklong camping tour in which riders traveled from Ilwaco to Walla Walla.

This year’s ride was called Roll on Columbia and was the second leg of the four-year cycle of routes which, taken as a whole, will circumnavigate the state counterclockwise.

The Aug. 2-8 ride was sponsored by Cascade Bicycle Club. On Aug. 2, riders took on a 54-mile ride from Ilwaco to Skamokawa. On Aug. 3, they biked about 88 miles to get to Vancouver, the longest ride on the tour.

On Aug. 4, it was a 58-mile ride to Stevenson, and a 77-mile ride to Maryhill State Park the next day. Aug. 6 featured 84 miles from Maryhill to Plymouth. The last leg of the trip by bike was 64 miles to Walla Walla.

From there, participants could take a bus or some other form of transportation back to Seattle.
