Selah beats Arizona to create four-way tie at junior regional

A four-run sixth inning gave the all-stars from Selah some insurance as they went on to beat Nogales, Arizona 6-1 in the Junior Baseball Western Regional on Sunday at Propstra Stadium.

Selah’s win created a four-way logjam atop Pool A with Selah, Nogales, Manhattan Beach and Beaverton-Aloha each with a 2-1 record.

The final round of pool play is Monday to determine the top two teams for the semifinals.

Chase Ergeson and Wil Middlebrooks each had two hits for Selah with Reid Rasmussen adding two RBI.

In other games Sunday:

Southern California 16, Idaho 1 — Dylan Dennis hit a three-run triple in the first inning and brought home another run with a sacrifice fly in the fifth as Manhattan Beach improved to 2-1 in Pool A. The SoCal all-stars held Idaho (0-3) to two hits.

Northern California 12, Alaska 2 — Jake Jensema had two hits and an RBI, and Shawn Hernandez had two RBI as Gilroy (3-1) clinched the No. 2 semifinal spot from Pool B with the win over Ketchikan (1-3).

Nevada 10, Montana 0 — Tristan Dahir pitched a five-inning no-hitter as Centennial of Sparks (2-2) kept Billings winless (0-4) in Pool B. Connor Culp hit a two-run double in the six-run second inning for Nevada.
