Esther Short — If helping children get school supplies and holiday gifts wasn’t enticing enough, the Clark County Children’s Sharing Project offered another reason for residents to check out the organization’s 30th anniversary: a chance to soak elected officials in a dunk tank.

County employees run the nonprofit, which donates school supplies and holiday gifts to local families. Last year, 300 students received school supplies and 1,400 children received holiday gifts from the organization.

At the fundraiser on July 30, those in attendance got a chance to dunk Clark County Sheriff Chuck Atkins, Auditor Greg Kimsey, Councilor Tom Mielke, Assessor Peter Van Nortwick, Clerk Scott Weber and Acting County Manager Mark McCauley.

The event raised $1,027.10.
