Humane Society offers special on older cats

VANCOUVER — Large numbers of adult cats are ready for adoption at the Humane Society for Southwest Washington.

To help ease overcrowding, the Humane Society has begun offering a $10 “Wise Whiskers” adoption special on Tuesdays for all cats ages 3 and older.

This is in addition to the already discounted adoption days of Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for adult cats.

Older cats are often litter-box trained and have developed personalities, which makes it easier for would-be pet owners to find their perfect kitty match. Despite their established personalities, older cats adapt well to new homes, according to a Humane Society press release.

All pet adoptions include spay or neuter surgery, microchip identification, vaccinations, a free veterinary exam and animal training information.

Shelter hours are noon to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. The shelter is at 1100 N.E. 192nd Ave., just north of Mill Plain Boulevard.

For a list of adoptable animals, go to www.southwesthumane.org or call 360-693-4746.
