Washougal — The Washougal School District hired Laura Miltenberger as its new curriculum director. Miltenberger will take over starting July 1, when the current director, David Tudor, takes over as principal of Hathaway Elementary School. Miltenberger is currently in charge of curriculum instruction and assessment for the Pendleton School District in Pendleton, Ore. In a release from the district, Miltenberger said it was hard to leave Pendleton, where she spent the last 30 years, but she was convinced to take the Washougal job after meeting people in the district during the interview process. “A strong sense collaboration centered around the importance of working together as a team to support the whole child was very evident,” Miltenberger said of Washougal in the release. “It is clear that everyone in this district works as a strong team to achieve the best outcomes for all students.”
