FUTURE CHEFS EVENT WINNERS
Third- and fourth-graders from Battle Ground Public Schools presented their culinary skills at a Future Chefs competition last month at Battle Ground High School. Judges included Jeff Norton from Northwood Public House and Brewery and Kevin Taylor from South Pacific Cafe and Lounge, both in Battle Ground.
Dalon Goodwin, a fourth-grader from Captain Strong Primary, earned the Best Overall Grand Champion award for his strawberry-spinach-turkey club. Dalon will advance to the regional competition.
Other notable entries were CAM Academy fourth-grader Makayla Furguson for Ant Hill; CAM Academy third-grader Haley Hankel for spring rolls with sweet chili sauce; Yacolt Primary fourth-grader Morgan Godfrey for watermelon lollipops; River HomeLink fourth-grader Ryley Engstrom for red pepper boats.
