Volunteers are needed for two work parties Saturday near Mount St. Helens.

On the south side of the peak, the Mount St. Helens Institute, Forest Service and eight other partner agencies will prepare Pine Creek Information Station for the coming season.

Work will include debris removal, minor landscaping, pressure washing, building interior cleaning, window washing, brush removal and more.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. Volunteers should bring a lunch, water, snacks and rain gear. Gloves, protective eyewear and tools will be provided.

Pine Creek station is on Lewis River road No. 90, 19 miles east of Cougar, near the upper end of Swift Reservoir.

On the north side of the volcano, work is planned at the Mount St. Helens Science and Learning Center. Tasks include planting native species, invasive species removal and trail maintenance.

Volunteers should bring lunch, water, snacks, sturdy shoes, a sun hat, warm clothes and rain gear. Work will begin at 9 a.m.
