The Washougal School District is just about ready to open registration for next school year’s group of kindergarten students.
The “kindergarten roundup,” as it’s called, begins May 4. Administrators urge parents to sign their children up early so the district will have enough time to coordinate staffing needs and class sizes well before kids return to school on Sept. 2.
The district offers free full-day kindergarten at all three of its elementary schools — Gause, Hathaway and Cape Horn-Skye. To qualify for kindergarten enrollment, children must turn 5 before Sept. 1.
Parents must also provide an original birth certificate and the latest immunization records for their children. For more information, visit the district’s kindergarten information page at washougal.k12.wa.us/kindergarten.
