The annual National Association of Letter Carriers “Stamp Out Hunger” Food Drive is set for May 9, and local coordinator Don Young is looking for some extra help.

People with vehicles and feet — who can drive different routes and scoop up food donations left by people’s mailboxes — are needed to help local mail carriers cover every mail route in the county, Young said.

Young is hoping for a couple dozen volunteers who can show up at 10 a.m. May 9, and then head out on a route. Maps and other information will be provided.

Call Young at 360-694-7163 or 360-904-6972.

Last year’s event touched 10,000 cities and towns in America and collected nearly 73 million pounds of food.
