Ridgefield — Union Elementary School fourth-graders demonstrated inventions made using electronic circuits at a recent Inventor Fair, as part of science projects from Full Option Science System. The students’ projects didn’t often work on first try, and a big part of the project was to make changes to the invention and document those changes, according to Kelly O’Boyle, a science teacher at the school. “Students get very excited to change their invention, but recording the changes is almost as important as the change itself, so students can see what works and what doesn’t work,” O’Boyle said in a release from the school. As part of the project, students had to describe their invention, draw diagrams and create drawings showing how their inventions work. They also had a writing assignment to describe their experience with the inventions. Some of the inventions students created were working fans, lighting arrays and house mock-ups with working lights.
