The driver who died after he was thrown from his car in Woodland and impaled by a deer antler was identified on Wednesday by the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office.
James Davidson, 32, of Vancouver died of blunt head trauma, according to the medical examiner’s office. His death was ruled an accident.
The crash happened just after 6 p.m. Sunday in the 2200 block of Dike Road, the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office said. A 1969 Ford Bronco left the roadway and went through a fence before rolling several times, the sheriff’s office said.
Davidson and a dog were ejected from the Bronco, while his passenger, Jordan Vossenkemper, 25, of Vancouver got out of the vehicle on his own. A deer antler that had been inside the vehicle pierced Davidson’s head, the sheriff’s office said. He was transported to a Vancouver hospital, where he died.
The passenger and the dog escaped the crash unscathed. The sheriff’s office continues to investigate. They don’t know why Davidson lost control of the Bronco.
