• American Cancer Society seeks volunteer help at the Discovery Shop to sort, press and price donated items, and to assist customers.

• CDM Services seeks handymen, kitchen assistants, musicians, hair dressers and program aides.

• Friends of the Carpenter seeks activity assistants to help cut, glue and sand, with music and drawing, and setting up devotion.

• Human Services Council seeks help in the Bike to Work trainings on one Saturday per month.

• Lutheran Community Services NW is looking for volunteer drivers, citizenship and ESL class instructors, mentors and program assistants.

• The ARC of Southwest Washington is looking for a volunteer to assist the business developer with email, phones and research.

Clark County councilors seek to fill a position on the three-member board that oversees Drainage Improvement District No. 5. The district, mainly south and west of Hockinson, is roughly between Northeast 132nd Avenue and Northeast 182nd Avenue, and between Northeast 99th Street and Northeast 159th Street. Board members are appointed for staggered six-year terms. They must own property within the drainage improvement district and be registered to vote in Washington.

Clark County councilors seek to fill two seats on the Clark County Board of Equalization. Both terms begin immediately; one ends in July 2016 and the other ends in July 2018. The board provides an impartial resident forum in which property owners can resolve issues of assessed valuation and exemptions. Members are paid $75 per day while attending meetings. Meetings usually are Tuesday through Thursday during regular business hours as needed. Applicants should have knowledge of real and personal property, Clark County, property appraisal techniques and property tax law. Experience or education in the building trades also is helpful.

The Gifford Pinchot National Forest and Mount St. Helens Institute have organized two work parties, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 25, in commemoration of Earth Day, and are looking for participants. One work party will be on the north side of Mount St. Helens at the Science and Learning Center, and the other at the Pine Creek Information Station, at the east end of Swift Reservoir.
