The three boys high school lacrosse programs in Clark County began league play with victories over the weekend, with Camas posting two wins and Union and Columbia River winning once.
Camas wins pair — Camas opened league play with wins over visitors from Richland and Southridge of Kennewick.
On Friday, Camas beat Richland 13-5. Austin Garwood, Harrison Martin and Adin Garwood each scored two goals and Matt Thomas and Kannon Brochette each fielded nine ground balls.
On Saturday Camas defeated Southridge of Kennewick 12-5. Austin Garwood and Harrison Martin scored four goals apiece, Julian Svaricek won nine faceoffs and Jake Lambert made 11 saves.
Camas (2-0, 5-3 overall) hosts rival Union at 8 p.m. today at Camas High School. It plays a home non-conference match against North Kitsap at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Union 9, Southridge 6 — Payton Summers led the scoring with four goals and Parker Lindhorst had two goals and fielded six ground balls as Union opened league play on Friday with a 9-6 win over Southridge of Kennewick. Trey Chambers added a goal and two assists. Also contributing goals were Chandler Lindhorst and Nathan Lindquist. Goalie Dominic Mendez had eight saves.
In addition to playing Camas on Tuesday, Union (6-1 overall) takes on Columbia River at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Camas High School and hosts Richland at 2 p.m. Saturday at Shahala Middle School.
Columbia River 10, Richland 8 — Mike Johnson scored four goals on Saturday to lead Columbia River to a 10-8 win over Richland. Brian Prigmore had two assists and eight ground balls for the team formerly known as King’s Way Lacrosse.
Columbia River (1-0, 2-5) plays a non-league match at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wilson of Portland. It plays Union at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Camas High School, then hosts Southridge at 1 p.m. on Saturday at McLoughlin Middle School.
Girls
Evergreen Lacrosse Club suffered its first two losses of the season last week, dropping close contests with Puyallup on Wednesday and Overlake on Friday at McKenzie Stadium.
On Wednesday, Puyallup edged ELC 10-9 to take over first place in the Nisqually Division of the Washington Schoolgirls Lacrosse Association. Olivia Hood scored four goals and Grace Davis and Molly McKinnon two apiece for Evergreen.
In a non-conference game on Friday, Madeline McKinnon scored seven goals for Evergreen but Overlake won 15-12.
Today at 5 p.m., Evergreen Lacrosse (4-1 in conference, 6-2 overall) hosts Auburn Riverside (3-0, 6-1) at McKenzie Stadium. Evergreen Lacrosse includes girls from the Evergreen Public Schools high schools.
