YACOLT — The Yacolt Town Council is one man short this month after Lewis Gerhardt announced plans to resign.
Gerhardt recently made the announcement on Facebook, saying he needed to step down because he’d moved to Vancouver. Gerhardt added that he didn’t make the decision lightly and that the move was due to unforeseen circumstances.
His term expires in 2017. The rest of the councilors will mull over their options for how to proceed in filling the open seat at their regular meeting tonight.
In his time with the council, Gerhardt served as an alternate on the C-Tran Board. Last fall, he also emerged among a handful of Yacolt officials opposing the county’s new home rule charter.
This story was changed to reflect the correct expiration date of Gerhardt’s term.
