Woodland City Council to fill vacant seat before election

WOODLAND — Scott Perry plans to step down from the Woodland City Council this spring ahead of what would have been his re-election bid.

Perry, a 73-year-old real estate broker, has served on the council since 2011, and his term ends in December. He won the position with a simple coin flip after tying candidate Robert Ripp at 569 votes apiece.

Perry has recently expressed frustration with his council job, and juggling that with his other profession hasn’t been easy. He plans to step down as soon as the city finds a replacement.

City leaders hope to appoint a new councilor by May 4. The application window closes at 5 p.m. on April 28.

Perry’s replacement will serve through the end of 2015, when the seat will go up for election once again.

For questions about qualifications or applications, contact the city of Woodland at 360-225-8281. Applications are also available online at www.ci.woodland.wa.us or in person at the City Hall Annex, located at 230 Davidson Ave., in downtown Woodland.
