Alexa Efraimson’s professional outdoor track and field career is off and running.

The Camas High School senior placed third in the 1,500 meters Friday at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif.

Her time of 4:09.43 was 1.3 seconds behind winner Sarah Brown, who pulled away during the final lap.

Since turning pro last summer, Efraimson has competed in a handful of indoor events and road races. But Efraimson’s focus is primarily on the outdoor track season, which began for her on Friday.

Her personal best in the 1,500 came last June, when she ran 4:07.05 in a Diamond League meet in New York.
